I make art with other people.
I studied Philosophy and Theater at Williams College and Exeter College, Oxford, before moving to Philly to spend two years training at the Pig Iron School. Since then I’ve worked and performed with Swim Pony, Jimmy Grzelak, AntiGravity Performance Project, Nature Theater of Oklahoma, Pig Iron Theatre Company, and my sister, choreographer Katharine Hawthorne.
I also make photographs of performances, city scenes, landscapes, flowers, and people. A copy of my self-published booklet, SOME AMERICA, is included in the library collection of the Walker Art Center. I publish many of my images on my Instagram.
I share a birthday with Ian MacKaye, Charlie Chaplin, and Merce Cunningham.
